Hello Bill,

First I would like to say that I very much enjoyed viewing all of the information of your website. Secondly, I am attaching a few more photos for your file. My Grandfather, John R Kane served aboard the USS Santa Fe during the time they helped to rescue the USS Franklin. I also have a copy of his itinerary during his service aboard the ship. Please let me know if that would be of any interest to you as well.

The following photographs are of my grandfather, my grandfather in Hawaii during WWII and my grandfather's Shellback Certificate dated 18 Sep 1943. I have a bit more info on his service, including his discharge papers etc. Should anything be of interest to you, please let me know. I would be happy to add to your collection.

My grandfather passed away in 1966, one month prior to my birth. I did not have the pleasure of knowing him in life, but through the information I have found, read (Including "Lucky Lady" and accounts from my father, I have come to know him as best I can and am so very sorry to say that I did not have the chance to spend time with him.

Thank you again for your website, it is a wonderful tribute to a great group of honorable men.

Sincerely,

Donna (Kane) Serl

Here are a few more for your website.  Thank you for adding the previous ones.  I so enjoy reading and viewing all of the individual accounts and pictures from others aboard during that time!  I do so hope that descendants will gain some interest in the years to come and find your website as I did.  You have my full permission, to do with, what you will, the material contained herein and if you so choose to not include them, that is entirely your call.

Thank you again for all your hard work in putting this together.  I hope to see many generations in the future to come to enjoy this as much as we have.

With Sincerest Appreciation!
Donna (Kane) Serl

p.s.  What you added looks wonderful.  The tribute is unbelievably heart warming.
I hope that these newest additions load a bit larger for you.  I am also hoping that the unidentified men in the pictures with my grandfather will be identified through your website.
